There is no way to properly describe this era other than to refer to it as the “Lisa Era.” My party days were winding down, I had just moved out on my own and I was ready to settle down into a serious relationship. Unfortunately, our time together didn’t stretch far beyond the borders of this era as we were only together from late-1994 until mid-2000.
But I do look back on this time fondly with few regrets. Together, Lisa and I created a homey environment in both our Woodman Park apartment and our Peppertree apartment. Amidst the occasional party, we took care of Ashleigh half of the time while enjoying sports, vacations, nights out, movies, and family gatherings - as a family. Near the later portion of the era we planned our wedding, honeymooned, and built a house - the same one in which I still live today. We also graduated college together while advancing our careers - mine with Kroger, hers as a nurse.
Because I kept notes on nearly two years worth of calendar pages, I can tell exactly what I did on almost any given day in 1996 and 1997 down to the details of every movie I watched, copied, or purchased. I guess if I had any regrets, it would be that I spent so much time and money on these superficial hobbies during this period of my late twenties. Admittedly, I still do this somewhat today, but not quite as obsessively.
I enjoyed this time as I evolved from young adult to a full-fledged middle aged man (not that I always behaved like one). It is unfortunate that these times ended rather tumultously, however I will always be thankful for them.
