It had been a while since our last family game night, so we were about due. This time Mom hosted it as an outdoor gathering since the weather permitted on Friday, June 7, 2007. We had a small but respectable gathering of family including Grandpa Murphy, Mom, Bob, Denise, Adam, Bryan, Erine, Bev, Ed, Karen, Andrew, Abby, Jim, Jan, Eric, Zac, and obviously me. Christi, Ashleigh, and Derek finally made it as the evening was coming to a close - but Mom and I still had time to work in a few games of cornhole with Ashleigh and Derek.
We had a grand array of food as always, highlighted by grilled hotdogs and sloppy joe sauce that served as a fine chili dog enhancer. Snacks, sides, and brownies abounded as well and I naturally had a bottle of fine Yellow Tail Cabernet Sauvignon. After we ate, the games commenced, complete with Farkle, cornhole, and basketball - while some chose to fish, and others just chose to socialize. Denise didn’t get to play any games as she was tending to Adam and his selfish baby needs of being fed, bathed, and given attention. I hooked Mom’s computer speakers to my iPod out in the garage, so we were also treated to a great batch of Billboard #1 songs of the 1980’s. All in all, a swell Summer gathering.

The food comes out. Bev and Mom lay temptations before Denise and Adam.

Cuteness.

Denise makes Mickey Mouse out of a two blueberries and a grape.
Ed, Karen, and Bev sit idly by as Zac stuffs his face.

Ed is downtrodden, Karen is jubilant

Zac and Bryan square off in cornhole

Andrew feebly attempts to catch an incoming bean bag

Bob: deeper than we think

Grandpa, Denise, and Adam. Abby climbs down the cornhole hole in the background.

The kids table illusion: although the Murphys are all at the same table, note how Eric and Jim appear to be at a normal-sized table while Jan appears to be at a kids table.

Bev convinces Andrew to help her at Farkle by telling him that he is actually shooting craps

The nights are always finer with Yellow Tail.
