ali8.jpgI have always had a love/hate relationship with alligators. They are so ugly and scary that I name them as my biggest fear. This may have stemmed from a dream I had a child that I was descending on an escalator in a giant deparment store into an alligator-filled swamp at the bottom, while Nancy Sinatra’s The City Never Sleeps at Night blasted throughout the building. Yes, as disturbed as I was/am, I still choose to face my fears and check out alligators and crocodiles whenever I get a chance.

Therefore, I have paid several visits to Alligator Adventure in Myrtle Beach during our frequent trips there. I believe that this trip in the Spring of 2000 has been my most recent visit. Although I always enjoy it, most of the folks that go on the trips with me have either already had their fill of alligators…or are too repulsed to even attempt it.

Anyway, for some reason, Mom snapped a slew of photos of us there during this trip. Lisa didn’t go along with us, nor did Grandpa Murphy or Bev, who falls into the ‘repulsed’ category. I suspect that this venture was near the end of the week, so Mom may have been trying to eat up some film - so what we are left with was almost as many photos taken with Alligators and reptiles as there were taken for the entire rest of the trip. Enjoy.

I even look scared of this alligator statue

Incidentally, you may recall, it was during this trip that I tasted alligator my one and only time.

2000 will continue
